In the story, The Wife’s Lament written by Ann Stanford is a story about a female mourning for her husband that has passed away. She is reflexing on her great loss and repeatedly, reminiscing about the better life she once had compared to the life she barely endures. The wife is praying that the Lord will send her husband back to her. Her husband left her without a trace of where he could have gone and the reason of why he left. But the wife assumes that he is thinking about what they had and wishing for the better life they once had shared. She experienced a loss once she and her husband separated, but she also felt no relief. Her love and remembrance of her husband made things for her worst. The girl couldn’t give up the love for her lover nor resolve the issue she has with her lover kinsmen, so she waits for him to return to her
