Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a powerfully and bravely speech at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing (China) on September 5, 1995. She wanted to create awareness about women rights in her speech so that women are take action to increase their rights and may stop the men’s depression and violence toward women on them and wanted to liberties of women’s. Hillary demonstrates that if women are opened from violence, the society and family will develop. She encourages women different way such as using repetition words and giving example her own experience where she worked with women. Hillary gave one message in her speech that “If there is one massage that echoes forth from this conference, let it be that human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights once and for all” (4). For this speech her target audience was government officials, individual citizens, NGOs and other organization so that they can help to make women’s right human rights. Now I will explain that how she uses pathos, logos and ethos then I will analyze according to different perspectives.
Hillary begins her speech by describing how women are contributing in different field of the world and then they don’t get their value in the society. She wanted to develop a better connection with audience. So, she understands the importance of attractive emotions; so she uses this thing in her speech. Hillary uses emotional appeals to the audience like ” It is true a celebration, a celebration of the contributions women make in every aspect of life: in the home, on the job, in the community, as mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, learners, workers, citizens, and leaders” (1). She highlights several cruel situations that women’s are subjugated to globally. Hillary said her speech that in some part of the world when girls are born, they are denied, submerged or suffocated and broken spines because they are not get value in their society. She contacts of selling women and girls to slavery of prostitution for human greed which women rights are abused. She almost tears in front of audience and audience also almost tears when she notes that dousing gasoline, set on fire for burning them (woman) to death because their marriage dowries are remember too small. Here, Hillary also used emotional that “Women are working all night as nurses, hotel clerks, or fast food chefs so that they can be at home during the day with their children; and for women everywhere who simply don’t have time to do everything they are called upon to do each and every day” (2).
