Being at the appropriate place of duty at the correct time is a very important part of being in the Marine Corps. Being at the right place at the right time ensures a steady workspace, and ultimately the reliability that others have on us. A Marine who truly wants to succeed in the Military must go out of his or her way to get squared away and be on time to his or her place of duty or consequences will be bestowed upon them.

Dependability, accountability, consistency, and discipline are all crucially related to being on time. Being early also shows that the individual aims high and has their priorities straight. It is directly related to a Marines appearance, combat readiness, mission effectiveness, and essentially every aspect of military life and responsibilities.

Being on time shows that you have respect for other people and that you care about their time as much as yours. Also, it sets a good example to your peers and those below you in the ranks. By being late you are making it so that those above you are being held accountability for lack dependability and discipline.

Accountability goes hand and hand with being on time. It ranges from showing up 15 minutes prior to work/pt, being on time to relieve a Marine from duty, handing in your work to meet the time hack that you were given, etc. As Marines and adults we should not need to be babysat; we should show up to our appointed place on time, do what need to work wise without being told what to do, pushing yourself to be better than you were the day before.
