After reviewing the information that went into the Team Leader Effectiveness Questionnaire. I concluded that my communication skills are very good, however my skills at Decision making need more work. I need to encourage team members to take decisions, this means I need to have them enthused more so they are comfortable at decision making. All members of the team are motivated differently which would need to be identified and address. Some may need more responsibility others more technical tasking’s.

One way would be to practice self-regulation and self-awareness, these are both qualities required by any team leader. In order to develop these qualities I must act upon constructive feedback I receives from within the organisation or external setting. The feedback can be attained from a number of sources including team members, other colleagues, and former line managers. With being relatively inexperienced I think being sent of a leadership course woud make me a better rounded leader being able to deal with a wider range of situations.

Find a role model I can learn from. Someone I respect highly and whose leadership I admire. If he agrees to mentor me, my leadership skills could greatly benefit.
Keeping my objectives clearly in mind could help me become a better leader. The strategic long term goals are significant and not the small problems which may occur from day to day.

As a final point sticking to my principles and keeping a high level of integrity may improve my leadership behaviour. Regardless of which leadership style uses in the office if all above enhancements are fulfilled team members will be more likely to accept you and the way you work.
